IF - Green

O tema desta semana do desafio Illustration Friday - verde - fez-me imediatamente pensar nela.

Fringed water lillies, also known as Yellow Floating Hearts, due to the shape of their leaves, are beautiful aquatic plants that grow in extense green floating mats, sprinkled by delicate yellow flowers. This week's IF theme - green - immediately reminded me of them. Native to Asia and Europe, where they have become rare, these plants were introduced in North America, where they became invasive and are causing problems to the native flora. The picture shows a watercolour and ink loose sketch done in the field, directly scanned from my sketchbook.

Vou voltar.

  2. How very lovely. They certainly feel very fluid and create a delicate patterning of leaves and shapes. Nicely done.
